(Dow Jones)- President Barack Obama threatened to veto any short- term extension of the debt ceiling, according to several Democratic congressional aides, in what was described as a testy meeting between lawmakers and administration officials, with one top GOP lawmaker saying the president ” abruptly walked” out of the session.

The meeting was the fourth round of negotiations in as many days as the nation’s political leaders seek to reach an accord on how to increase the $14.29 trillion debt ceiling, something that must be accomplished by an Aug. 2 deadline.
