A Marxist’s explanation of the 2007-08 crisis
In this short RSA Animate, radical sociologist David Harvey asks if it is time to look beyond capitalism, towards a new social order that would allow us to live within a system that could be responsible, just and humane. View his full lecture at the RSA.
Though his conclusions are lacking, the presentation is mesmerizing thanks to RSAnimate, and his take on the housing subsidy is very insightful. I am also intrigued by the notion that American family debt was spurred by a dedication to increasing effective demand. How Mr. Harvey would promote Marxist statism to fix these errors is matter for debate.
